Former Kansas House Speaker and western Kansas farmer Representative Melvin Neufeld today announced his endorsement of state senator Tim Huelskamp for Congress.
“Senator Huelskamp and I represent many of the same folks and Tim has always put the people he represents first,” Neufeld said. “I believe he will take his farm values, hard work and care for the people with him and be an outstanding Congressman.”
Neufeld has served in the Kansas Legislature for more than twenty years – including two years as Speaker of the House. He currently serves as Chairman of the Federal and State Affairs Committee.
Neufeld and his wife, Maxine, farm and live near Ingalls.
In addition to Representative Neufeld, Huelskamp has already been endorsed by more than 20 legislators, including legislative leaders in the 1st District like Representative Peggy Mast, Representative Larry Powell, Representative Jim Morrison, Representative Don Schroeder and Senator Ralph Ostmeyer. Huelskamp has also been endorsed by the two gubernatorial candidates, Robin Jennison and Ken Canfield, who collectively won 63 percent of the vote in the 1st Congressional district.
