Business members of the Liberal Chamber of Commerce have been receiving special “POP-IN” visits from the Chamber’s Red Coat Ambassadors. Members are receiving special bags of popcorn with Chamber information as a special thank you for being a chamber member.
Chamber Executive Director Rozelle Webb came up with the idea recently and asked the Ambassadors if they would be willing to donate a few hours during the week of June 1 to deliver the popcorn to the members with the catch phrase “We’re just popping in to say thank you for being a member of the Chamber!”
Webb said the Chamber Ambassadors loved the idea and close to 20 of the Ambassadors volunteered to make the deliveries.
Chamber President Larry Howell said that on his visits with fellow Ambassador Janet Lewis, “We visited 30 businesses in one afternoon.
It was a great experience to simply ‘pop’ into a business with a bag of popcorn as a token of the Chamber’s appreciation for the business being a member.
“We encountered a lot of skeptical looks that quickly broke into big smiles,” Howell said. “It was a time when all we wanted to do, was say thank you for being a member. It was a time for our members to visit with us about the Chamber, community issues and address any ideas, complaints or compliments from our membership.”
Howell’s only regret was not thinking of the catch phrase that Ambassador Rhonda Crawford used, “We’re popping in to say thank you, and now, I’m popping out!”
One Chamber member did complain, stating that his sons ate the bag of popcorn before he was able to get one kernel.
Webb reported that all the Ambassadors had fun and enjoyed meeting members and visiting with business friends during the week long campaign.
Special thanks go out to the Chamber staff for preparing the membership bags and for Sunflower Theater for donating the popcorn.
The Chamber extends a special invitation to any business to join the Liberal Chamber.
