Seward County sophomore Bobby Doran has been selected in the 36th round of the 2009 Major League Baseball Draft by the Pittsburgh Pirates.

The Saints ace this season was taken with the fourth pick in the 36th round and 1,075th overall in the draft.

Doran who last week committed to Texas Tech University, will now have the option of signing with the Pirates or choosing to stay in school and play for the Red Raiders next season.

The signing deadline is Aug. 15, so the Bucs will have just over two months to get a deal done or the right-hander will head off to Lubbock and play for Tech.

Doran was 10-3 for Seward this season posting a 2.59 ERA in 93-1/3 innings of work and led the Saints to a second place finish at the Region 6 tournament, just one game short of the 2009 NJCAA World Series.
