The Liberal Lady Redskin volleybasll team broke a barrier by qualifying for the Class 5A state tournament.
The Lady Redskins dropped all three matches in their first-ever appearance, but they improved in each contest.
Liberal opened the state tournament with a 14-15, 16-25 loss to Topeka Seaman Friday.


The Lady Redskins then faced Shawnee Mission Bishop Miege in the second game of pool play and dropped that contest 9-25, 18-25.
In the final contest, Liberal played Salina South and although the Lady Redskins lost the match, they chalked up their first game during the contest.
Liberal lost to South 17-25, 25-19, 25-22, showing marked improvement  in the final game of the state tournament.
Liberasl finished in the top eight in Class 5A.
