The Liberal Bulldogs began Wednesday night’s contest with Guymon behind 0-3 after the top half of the first inning, but quickly answered and took the lead 4-3 in the same inning. Liberal never looked back and earned another run-rule victory, 14-4.

The Bulldogs starting pitcher Chris Flowers got off to a rough start and surrendered three of Guymon’s four runs  in the first.

Liberal quickly fired back with four of their own off three singles, a walk and a sacrifice as the first seven in the line-up got an at bat in the inning.

The Bulldogs put two more runs on the board in the second off three more hits and went up 6-3.

After Flowers gave up three early, he only allowed Guymon to score one more the whole night off of a home run to the shallowest part of the park in left field, barely fair and about two feet from a double.

The Bulldogs kept the motors running at the plate and went up to bat in the sixth up 9-4. Eight hitters got an at bat in the inning. Four hits and a walk led to a five-run inning to go up by 10 after five for the 14-4 run-rule victory, back-to-back run-rule wins for the Bulldogs.

“We got off to a rough start defensively and on the mound,” Bulldogs head coach Eric Olmstead said. “Then Flowers settled in and threw well after the first inning, and the defense was solid with just one error in the first, and we ended with 13 hits.”

The Liberal Bulldogs will travel to Hooker for a makeup game tonight.

The game was suspended due to rain earlier in the season and will start where it left off which looks promising for the Bulldogs who were up 5-0 in the first when the game was rained out.

Liberal now holds a perfect 8-0 record in O-K League play and are

15-4 overall.
