LAWRENCE C. BAILEY
Lawrence Charlie “Speck” Bailey, 78, died Monday, July 6, 2009, at his home.
He was born Feb. 6, 1931, to Warren H. and Mary E. (Carrico) Bailey in Gate, Okla.
He married Helen Beatrice Francis June 2, 1956. She survives.
He graduated Gate High School.
He had been employed as a riveter for Boeing Aircraft for many years.
He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 to 1955.
He was a member of the Forgan United Methodist Church, Veterans of Foreign War, Disabled American Veterans and Forgan Lions Club.
He is also survived by one son, Michael W. Bailey and wife, Peggy, Liberal; one daughter, Sharon Kay Bates, Tulsa, Okla.; one sister, Carol Rizley and husband, Clifford, Rogers, Ark.; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was receded in death by his parents; three brothers, Barney, Vernon, and Roy Bailey; and one sister, Irene Gray.
o Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the United Methodist Church in Forgan, Okla. with the Rev. Al Scifrices and the Rev. Timothy Heemstra presiding.
Burial will be at the Cemetery in Gate, Okla. with Military Honors by the U.S. Air force.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday with the family present to receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society or United Methodist Church in Forgan or donor’s choice in care of Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home 1212 W. Second, Liberal, KS 67901.
