A citizen’s report confirmed a suspicion of officers conducting an ongoing narcotics investigation and has led to the arrest of a 41- year-old Liberal man for allegedly growing and possesssing marijuana.
A citizen reported that marijuana was being grown at a residence in the 100 block of West Pine, according to a press release from Liberal Police Department Capt. Pat McClurg. Investigating officers went to the residence and observed signs that marijuana was being grown and applied for a search warrant.
On Monday, at about 2:30 p.m., the LPD Special Response Team served a search warrant at the residence. The search was conducted in the furtherance of an ongoing narcotics investigation. McClurg noted that upon a search of the premises, officers located numerous suspected marijuana plants, equipment for growing marijuana and two pit bulls.
A 41-year-old man was arrested and is charged with possession of marijuana with intent to sell within 1,000 feet of a school (South Middle School), unlawful manufacturing of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and harboring pit bulls. An affidavit has been forwarded to the Seward County Attorney for filing formal charges.
