PHILLIP W. HAMPTON
ULYSSES – Phillip W. Hampton, 62, died Sunday, Oct. 25, 2009, at his home in Ulysses.
He was born March 8, 1947, to Robert Wade and Della Arlene (Lahey) Hampton in Garden City.
He married Barbara Ford on Sept. 4, 1979, in Lakin.
He graduated from Ulysses High School and served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam conflict. He worked for Jim Wilson Crane, on the family farm with his dad and as a truck driver and a bricklayer.
He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, gardening and cooking.
Survivors include his mother; two sons, Eric Hampton and Zeb Hampton, both of Hutchinson; four daughters, Alesha Hampton, Garden City, Nicolette Hampton, Ulysses, Cheyene Hampton, Garden City, and Destiney Contreras, Jacksonville, N.C.; two brothers, Kenneth Hampton and Lyle Hampton, both of Ulysses; and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father.
o Funeral service will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Garnand Funeral Home Chapel in Ulysses with Pastor Kurt Coleman presiding.
Burial will follow at the Ulysses Cemetery with military rites conducted by Dexter D. Harbour American Legion Post No. 79.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses.
