VADA C. SALLEY
RICHMOND, Va. – Vada Christine Salley, 84, died Saturday, Nov. 28, 2009, in Richmond, Va.
She was born Nov. 17, 1925, to Robert Lee and Minnie Mae (Potter) January in Colcord, Okla.
She attended Liberal schools.
She married Jessie Edgar Salley Sr. Sept. 21, 1941. He died Oct. 27, 1992.
She had worked at the Seward County Courthouse in records, Southwest Medical Center in records, Gibson’s and Mayhan Nursery.
She was a member of the First Christian Church of Liberal.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, quilting, painting pictures, playing card games and family reunions.
She is survived by four sons, Jessie Jr. and Jody Salley, Liberal, Jim and Cheri Salley, Midlothian, Va., Darrell and Shirley Salley, Turpin, Okla., and Richard Salley, Oklahoma City;one daughter, Paula and Terry Dawson, Liberal; two sisters, Sylvia Talbott, Buffalo, Mo., and Ellen Taylor; 17 grandchildren, Kent and Marilyn Salley, Kurt Salley, Keith Salley, Kelly and Doug Wiltfong, Troy and Sarah Salley, Trace and Jill Salley, Timoth and Janice Salley, Paul and Crystal Salley, Wade Salley, Doug Ward, Steve Ward, Jessie Richard Salley, Robert Wade Salley, Dewayne and Stephanie Washington, Jennifer Crews, Jessica and Charles Naasz and Virginia Dawson; and 23 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, Mont January, Dutch January, Jay January and Dick January, two sisters, Letha Ethridge and Edna Mayfield, and one grandson, Brian Ward.
o Cremation has taken place.
Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the South Church of God with Pastor Rusty Callahan presiding.
