ULYSSES – Mario Alberto Mejia-Salcido, 63, died Saturday, Nov. 4, 2017 at Western Prairie Senior Living Community in Ulysses.  

He was born May 23, 1954 to Alberto and Edwiges (Salcido) Mejia in Riva Palacio Chihuahua, Mexico.

He married Alma Bustillos May 7, 1984, in Anuhuac, Mexico. She survives.

He was known for being a family man who enjoyed telling jokes and stories. He also followed soccer, and enjoyed watching his children play sports.  

He was a member of Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Ulysses.     

Survivors also include sons: Omar Mejia and wife, Elizabeth, Dodge City, Mario Mejia, Ulysses, and Alberto Mejia, Omaha, Neb.; siblings: Leticia Imelda Mejia, Sergio Mejia, Sonia Cristina Mejia, Victor Humberto Mejia, Oscar Obed Mejia, Erika Cecila Mejia; and grandchildren, Emma and Matthias. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings: Virginia Mejia, Elia Mejia, Maribel Mejia, and Lizbeth Yadira Mejia.

 Vigil and rosary services will be at 7 tonight at Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Ulysses. 

Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2017 at Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Ulysses with Reverend Peter Fernandez presiding.  

Burial will take place at a later date in Mexico.
