HUGOTON – Muriel Phillis Wilson, 88, died Sunday, Nov. 5, 2017 in Wichita.

She was born Oct. 16, 1929 to Dessie Marie (Hogan) Wilson and Fred Vincent Wilson in Dodge City.  

She graduated from Alva High School in Alva, Okla., and attended Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva, receiving her Bachelor of Science in 1951. In 1956, she finished a Master of Science from Kansas State Teachers College of Emporia. 

She taught as an elementary school teacher at Dodge City Sunnyside School in Dodge City, and was a second grade teacher for the Ulysses Public Schools in Ulysses.  

She later worked for the Stevens County Courthouse in Hugoton as a clerk.   

She joined the Trinity Baptist Church, was baptized upon confession of faith, and was extremely loyal to the way of the gospel. 

Survivors include sisters, Vesta Wilson, Wichita, and Garnet MacKay, Andover; nephews, Mark MacKay, Georgia, and Brent MacKay and wife, Sherry Lynne Dodson, and their daughters, Caitlin and Madison, Moore, Okla.; and many other relatives and friends. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Leola Marilyn Wilson; and brother-in-law, Charles MacKay. 

• Graveside services will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 10, 2017 at the Hugoton Cemetery in Hugoton with Pastor Larry Bradford presiding. 

Friends may call Thursday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Paul’s-Robson Funeral Home in Hugoton.
