Seward County Community College/Area Technical School recently recognized students who attend the Colvin Adult Learning Center during an international student recognition ceremony. Students who take Adult Basic Education classes at the Colvin represent Argentina, Burma, Brazil, Cuba, Eritrea, El Salvador, France, Guatemala, Honduras, Peru, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Nicaragua, Somalia, Sudan and Vietnam. Adult Basic Education classes include English as a Second Language, preparation for the Kansas State High School Equivalency exam, other basic math and English skills and citizenship. The college hangs flags that represent the countries of those international students have attended SCCC/ATS past and present. This year, 30 students from 18 countries are taking classes at SCCC/ATS. The countries include Australia, Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Czech Republic, El Salvador, France, India, Mexico, Mozambique, Nigeria, Senegal, Serbia, United Kingdom, Vietnam and Zimbabwe.
