Meade whips Oswego to advance at State Tourney Print

The Meade Buffalo men opened 2A State Basketball action Wednesday with a 80-43 dismantling of the Oswego Indians. Meade entered the tournament as the #1 seed posting a 22-0 record. The Buffaloes put points on the scoreboard first and after one quarter saw themselves with a nice lead of 19-5. In the second quarter the Buffaloes extended their lead and took a 41-22 score to the locker room at halftime.

In the second half the Oswego Indians tried to close the gap and the scoring was even with the Buffaloes adding 17 points to the Indians 16, but the Buffaloes exploded in the fourth quarter with 22 points to seal the victory in first round action with a final score of 80-43.

Senior Randy Friesen led all scorers for the Buffaloes with 22 and also contributed 12 rebounds and 12 blocks for a triple double. Other Buffaloes in double figures were Senior Trevin Wiens with 19, Junior Morgan Davis with 16, and Junior Jett Little with 11.

Oswego will finish their season with a 14-10 record and was led in scoring by Junior Tag Oldman with 12 points.

The Buffaloes will head to semi-final action on Friday against the Moundridge Wildcats(19-5) who defeated the Inman Teutons (18-6). Tipoff is at 4:45 p.m.
