An incredible comeback and a last second buzzer beater by the Turpin Cardinals sent their final game of the Laverne Invitational to overtime. But in the OT three Cardinal starters fouled out, and Laverne made their free throw to win, 77-68.

"They jumped on us early," Cardinals coach Gary Wallace said. "They shot it really well."

Laverne led 21-10 at the end of the first quarter, and led by a dozen at half (35-23).

Turpin still trailed 48-35 at the end of the third, and did not appear poised to make any kind of run considering the offensive struggles that have plagued the team this season.

But in the fourth Turpin rallied, scoring 29 points including a shot by Jordon Lujan as regulation time expired to send it to overtime.

But in OT, Turpin managed only four points as three starters, including Lujan fouled out. Laverne took care of business at the line to win by nine.

"Our press hurt them in the fourth," Wallace said. "We ran out of juice and guys in the overtime."

Lujan scored 29 to lead the Cardinals offensive attack. Isaac Resindez added 18, and Matt Young scored 12.

Turpin (1-5) will host Texhoma Tuesday.
