The West eighth grade earned a vicotry over the South Apaches Tuesday to advance the Warriors to 8-3 on the season and eanr a third seed in the Ark River League tournament that begins Monday at West.

“We played awful on Monday against Kenneth Henderson,” West coach Eric Olmstead said. “But we regrouped a bit.”

William Ross led the charge for the Warriors, scoring 18 points in the win. Dylan Holt had eight points.

Edgar Loya led the Apaches with nine points, and Isaiah Rodriguez hit two threepointers for the Apaaches to score six.

West had a 16-5 lead at half, and both teams heated up in the second half.

South knocked down four three-point shots in the second half.

In the B-game, West won 32-18.

The game was 16-9 at half, but the Warriors stretched the lead in the fourth quarter by scoring 14. Eight of those came form Michael Begley who scored 16 in the game.

Esteban Michel scored 10 for the Warriors, six in the fourth quarter.

Trevor Stebens scored 13 points for South including a three pointer in the fourth.

South and West will participate in the league tournament beginning Monday at West.
