L&T staff report

The Liberal 16-and-under Rattlers faced Dodge City Wednesday, and Braxton Hyde threw a no hitter in a run-rule shortened game that ended with an 11-0 Rattler win.

altHyde’s only blemish that prevented a perfect game was  a walk.

Other than that, Hyde struck out nine Dodge City batters out of the 12 total outs.

While Hyde shut down Dodge City at the plate, the Rattlers belted out eight hits and took advantage of four Dodge City errors in only three innings at the plate.

Liberal scored one run in the first when Elijah McCarter led off with a single and Cesar Burciaga hit a one-out double that pushed McCarter across the plate for a 1-0 Liberal lead.

Max Valles reached on an error in the second, and Ethan Green hit a single that scored Valles, and Nelijah tatum followed with another singled to score Green.

The first two Rattler batters were out to start the third, but Alex Yanez kept the inning alive with a single, and a dodge City error allowed Pancho Terrazas to reach first.

Valles followed with a walk to load the bases, and Green singled to score Yanez and Terrazas. Tatum added a double to score Valles and Green, and Liberal has a 7-0 lead.

McCarter added a single, Hyde doubled to score two more Rattlers, Burciaga walked, and Brodie Warren reached on another Dodge City error that allowed tow more runs to score, and the Rattlers added eight runs in the inning with two outs to take an 11-0 lead.

Hyde retired Dodge City in order in the fourth for the win.
