One person was injured in a two-vehicle accident Thursday evening in north Liberal.

The accident happened, according to a press release from Liberal Police Department Capt.  Pat McClurg, around 6 p.m. at the intersection  of 15th Street and Roosevelt Avenue.

McClurg said upon being dispatched along with emergency responders, finding two vehicles involved, investigating officers found that  a 29-year-old male was driving a 2005 Chevy Trailblazer south on Roosevelt Avenue.

“A 43-year-old male was driving a 2003 Dodge Caravan east on 15th Street,” he said. “The driver of the Trailblazer failed to yield to the Caravan, and the Trailblazer struck the Caravan at the intersection.”

McClurg said the driver of the Trailblazer and his 6-year-old passenger, as well the driver of the Caravan, were not injured.

“A 55-year-old male passenger in the Caravan was transported to Southwest Medical Center by Seward County EMS with non life-threatening injuries,” he said. “The Caravan was towed from the scene because of functional  damage. The driver of  the Trailblazer was issued a citation for running a stop sign.”
