As a fundraiser for OK Kids Day, Meade State Park and Lake is hosting a trout derby March 24.

Registration will run from 7 a.m. to noon at the park office. The entry fee is $10 for adults and $5 for kids under 15, and the first 25 entries will get a ball cap.

Contestants must be registered to get prizes.  Prizes in the adult category will be given for the biggest fish, heaviest stringers and smallest stringer. In the children’s category, young fishers can win for the biggest fish and the smallest fish.

The derby will also feature two $50 tagged trout, one sponsored by OK Kids Day and one sponsored by the Friends of Meade Lake.

A vehicle permit is required, as is a regular Kansas state fishing license and trout permit.

A meal will be available for purchase, and all proceeds will benefit OK Kids Day. For more information, contact the Meade Lake park office at 620-873-2572.
