• Liberal High School Key Club

Liberal High School’s Key Club is a leadership and service organization devoted to helping out the community in any way they can. They have been very busy this year with multiple events.

As the school year began, Key Club had their first event at the Chamber of Commerce Duck Race Festival and United Way Chili Cook Off. Starting in the early morning, many members were present to set up and assist with various booths, helping make this year’s festival a success. Some of our members even competed in the trike races and scavenger hunt. However, the work didn’t stop there. In the afternoon, our members helped organize the ducks after the race for next year.

In October, the Key Club encouraged wellness and nutrition at the Community Health Fair. The Health Fair is organized by the Southwest Medical Center to educate and give opportunities for people to increase their wellness. Members helped the blood testing booth by organizing samples and packaging them for delivery to the lab. Members also passed out water bottles and gave directions to certain booths. The members had fun helping the community while learning about their own well-being. Key Club also assisted with the Pet and Spook parade during Halloween. The members helped make sure the children were organized before the parade and that they received their treats afterwards. October was surely a success.

At the end of the first semester, Liberal High School was in high gear for finals week. To help the students and teachers relax before their tests, Key Club hosted a stress relief night for the entire school. The members organized many activities, including making mini-facials, crafting sensory bottles, decorating cookies, and playing with dogs. Everyone had fun and were able to enjoy a well-needed night of relaxation.

This past week, Key Club organized their annual Sweetheart Valentine’s Dance for the local Mosaic home. The members danced and ate with the Mosaic residents, and each resident was given a rose at the end. The residents and the members both had lots of fun with this year’s Mosaic Valentine’s dance.

Key Club has enjoyed providing service to the community in various ways and cannot wait to keep helping others as they finish this school year.
